How Do I Get a Wage Levy Released From My Paycheck?

To have a Wage Levy released from your paycheck, you have to deal with the IRS by putting some kind of acceptable solution into place.

An acceptable solution to the IRS might be that you become Currently Not Collectible.

Another solution might be entering into some kind of installment agreement to agree to pay your debt off over time in the future.

Or you might qualify for an Offer in Compromise, which means that you can settle your debt for less than you actually owe.

You have to put one of these solutions into place before you can get a Release of Levy from the IRS.

You can’t just call up and say “I don’t like having a levy on my pay check.  Please release it.”

It does not work that way. You have to put a solution in place that’s acceptable to the IRS. You have to qualify as currently not collectable, you have to enter into an installment agreement, or make an offer in compromise to have a Wage Levy released from your paycheck.
